Righteous Vengeance

God’s desire in His heart is not to destroy men, but due to their burning iniquities and evil in their hearts, which cannot be tamed, God serves justice to the wicked out of His love for those whose hearts are for Him.

Sometimes we can ask God for rightful judgement out of righteous hurt, but to keep us soft and and our hearts pure before Him, He will often soften us before granting our request for vengeance on indignation. He gives the wicked time in their folly out of mercy, but even the Lord grows impatient at the foolishness of our captive hearts, yet set free.

God destroys the wicked because His mercy upon the wicked is destruction, just the same as it is God’s righteous judgement and vengeance,

Yet, at the center of it all, though righteous judgement and vengeance is of His heart, it is certainly not the the core nor the driving force of the Lord. The core makeup of His heart is love, mercy, and grace; leaving judgement and vengeance the addition to who He is because God will not be mocked. Before anger, there is sadness and grief, which plagues His heart continuously due to our unrighteous hearts and behaviors, but out of His grace and mercy does He work out our own indignation through time to bring us into full sanctification and glory to abide with Him in His heart forever. It’s His eternal promise.

Nahum 1:3 KJV

“The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked; the Lord hath His way in the wirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.”

I remember my mom used to tell me as a baby girl, as we would watch thunder and lightning storms with fascination, that lightning was the angels turning the lights on and off in Heaven, while thunder was God getting mad and yelling at them to stop as if the angels were children getting on the nerves of their Father. She told me rain is the tears of angels who were in trouble for turning the lights on and off. Hail was the overflow of ice cubes from the cups of the angels falling from Heaven who just happened to allow their cups to overfill from their heavenly fridge. Something as sweet and innocent as this had brought me into a childlike wonder and admiration for my Father’s might and power. I delight in the might of my Father.

Nahum 1:5-6 KJV

“The mountains quake at Him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at His presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before His indignation? And who can abide in the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by Him.”

As His daughter, I have come to trust in Him as my protector. He has kept me, yet, out of His love for me, He has also stayed out of my way. However, He has always guided me. Little did I know He was forging my path for me all along. Though the Lord has always been out of my way, little did I know He has always been the way.

There was a podcast I had watched, and a woman was giving part of her testimony on how the Lord had saved her from a relationship, even a marriage, with a man who ended up not being a great guy. Later in life, she found out he went to jail and the truth about him came out. The Lord had shown her in real time how He had orchestrated vengeance on her behalf out of her obedience to turn away from the relationship.

The guy I had dated at seventeen was emotionally and mentally abusive. He played with me so much to the point I didn’t want to be alive anymore. He would use suicidal tendencies to manipulate attention from me. I was oftentimes dragged by him emotionally and mentally. Long story short, the day came around he wanted to marry me. He tried to convince me to marry him and I had ended up telling him no, only for him to jump ship to another girl, who he was also talking to about marriage. He ended up marrying her. Well, some years had passed, and he ended up apologizing to me. After the apology, we small talked about our current lives, leading to him updating me about a catastrophe that had taken place in his life, along with his marriage being in a not so great place. All in all, the information scared me, because it had resonated with me that this was the fruit of the life he had produced outside of the Lord, leading into judgement upon his life. It caused me to break out in prayer for mercy upon his life.

God’s wrath is not to be played with and vengeance is not His heart. Yet, we parade around, boasting on God’s vengeance, egging Him on to destruction, only to find out we grieve Him by doing so. This is why He keeps His children, the ones who have His heart, pure.

Do you have the heart of the Lord or is your master a golden calf?

Who do you call Lord?

You sons of Satan, children of perdition, mockers and deceivers, destruction always on your tongues and hatred forever in your hearts. You feed on the flesh of the righteous, yet call yourselves Holy. You put shame on the name of Christ, yet use it as your own. Scorners, mockers, deceivers, liars, you sons of Satan; hatred is your name and you delight in evil. God will not endorse your games. Satan fell from the skies, from the highest of highs a created being was allowed to achieve, but iniquity was born in his heart, leading to his death and shame.

Nahum 1:9

“What do you imagine against the Lord? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.”

Sons and daughters, take heed of this warning. Forever stay in the delight of His grace, mercy, and love. Never learn to delight in vengeance, lest you deceive yourselves into becoming children of perdition, executing yourselves out of your own blessing and promise. Let the King have His way and you stay under His wing.

Nahum 1:7

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him.”

Vengeance is not the heart of the Lord and don’t be dismayed to believe so. To believe otherwise is deception.

None, and I do mean none, are of the exception. Comfortability is the catapult into destruction. forgetfulness is the friend of Satan. Forget not what the Lord has done for you and let not yourselves be puffed up in strength lest you end up as Nineveh. Heed your ears to hear.

Nahum 2:1-2

“He that dasheth in pieces is come up before your thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily. For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel; for the emptiers have emptied them out, and martyred their vine branches.”

Nahum 3:8-11

“Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea? Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers. Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children were also dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains. Thou shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

Nahum 1:12-13

“Thus saith the Lord; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when He shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. For now I will break his yoke from off thee and will burst thy bonds in sunder.”

Nahum 1:15

“Behold upon the mountains the feet of Him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep they solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.”

“This is my promise to you, O’ children of Israel, My children of promise. The Lord has come to avenge you and your affliction remains no more. Cast aside onto Me your cares and worries. Allow Me to have My way with you. Doom and destruction are no more. Peace and blessings forever more upon you and your families. Let the King have His way and sing His Holy Praise. Praise His Holy Name.”

Jehovah Jireh.

Amen.
